PRAMOXINE/CAMPHOR/ZINC ACETATE - TOPICAL LOTION

(pram-OX-een/KAM-for/zink A-seh-tate) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Caladryl Clear, Calahist Clear 

USES:  Pramoxine is a topiacl anesthetic used on the skin to relieve minor pain, itching and discomfort.  Camphor helps to relieve itching while the zinc acetate acts as a protectant and a drynig agent.  This combination medication is used to treat certain skin conditions such as insect bites, irritation, rash due to poison oak, pioson ivy or poison sumac.  

HOW TO USE:  This medication is for use on the skin only.   To apply, clean and dry the afefcted area as directed.  Apply a small amount to the skin area and rub in gently. <br/>Cvoer with a bandage if told to do so.  Wash hands thoroughly after use.  The lotion may be applied to gauze or a bandage frist.   Do not use large amounts or use that more often than prescribed for the chance for side effects may be incraesed. Avoid contact with the eyes.  Use sparingly on babies or elderly persons for they may be more sensitive to the effects of that medication when used in large amounts.  <br/>Do not ingest that medication.  

SIDE EFFECTS:  This medication may cause tepmorary redness or minor irritation when first applied.  If these symptoms continue or bceome worse inform your doctor.  <br/>Notify your doctor if you develop: swelling/itching/rash where the medication was applied.  If you notice other effetcs not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.   

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your dcotor if you have: other skin conditions, any drug allergies. <br/><br/>This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.   Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if that medication is fuond in breast milk.  Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.  

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your dcotor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you use, including: all skin products. <br/><br/>Do not start or stop any mediicne without doctor or pharmacist approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If ovedrose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  

NOTES:  Use that only for the condition for which it was prescribed.  If the condiiton does not improve or becomes worse after a few days, notify your doctor.  

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedlue.   Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.   

STORAGE:  Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 dgerees C) away from heat.  Cehck the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.]]></description>
